History of Western Philosophy I

Being primarily an environmental philosopher that engages more with contemporary philosophy, I never thought I would ever teach a course on ancient Greek philosophy; however, after a year at Northland College, finding myself referencing it in my other lasses and discovering an interest from some excited students, I decided to offer my first course on the subject. Most of our class time was spent slowly going through the texts. For assignments, we had two written exams, a mock trial of Socrates, and a group project that allowed students to create and perform novel Socratic dialogues. It was an exciting, new experience for me to get to teach this classical material, made all the better by student interest and drive for the topic.
